You will be part of the beginner batch. We introduce the concept of dancing, weight change, understanding the count and the music etc and make the learning very simple for beginners to understand. By the end of the 3rd class you will be fairly comfortable.
This is quite subjective and depends on how much you want to learn. There are students who have been dancing with us for over 5 years and enhancing their skills. However, to move to an intermediate level it takes about 2 months. By this time, you would be comfortable to lead and follow on the dance floor with ease. For boys, it may take a few classes more as they have to learn to lead, listen to music and also do their footwork at the same time. Typically by the 4th class, our boys become confident beginner level dancers.
No. You can come alone or with a partner. The only purpose that the latter serves is the comfort of knowing someone beforehand or if you want to dance with your partner. We anyways rotate partners (unless asked otherwise) in class so that everyone gets to dance and you also become comfortable dancing with different people. This also helps in better understanding of lead and follow.
If you don’t have dance shoes we find socks to be most comfortable, even though it sounds strange. Dance shoes, socks help in the swiveling action. Sneakers and other shoes create friction which can restrict free movement and learning. At the beginner level it doesn’t have much of an impact but if you plan to continue and dance to your best ability, we recommend you to invest in dance shoes. We can also help you buy customised, good quality shoes for approx 300-350 AED)
This depends on the extent of your learning. Speak to your instructors as they will be able to guide you best once they see you dance. Every instructor has a different way of teaching, so it’s sometimes hard to accurately comment. We have had many students who have danced for a month or 2 before but found the beginner level most comfortable to get their basics right. Our intermediate level may be different from the inter level of other schools.
